CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team hosts the UC/Pam Whitehead Invitational Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6-7, at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center. Admission is free for the event.
The program renamed its annual fall invitational in 2018 in honor of Pam Whitehead, a former standout for the Bearcats and proud member of the Cincinnati tennis community until her passing in 2017. She remains the program's single-season record holder with 25 combined double wins.
The two-day event is scheduled to be held at the Bearcats' outdoor courts and follow a hidden dual format. The location and event schedule could be altered due to inclement weather; however, all updates will be added to this release and the website schedule. Results will be provided at the conclusion of each day.
In addition to host Cincinnati, Xavier, Miami (OH) and Ball State round out the four-team field.
Cincinnati is back on the court after totaling six singles victories and one more in doubles action over the three-day Hoosier Classic last weekend. Freshman Gabrielle Guenther posted three wins in singles, all in straight sets, and paired up with fellow freshman Sakurako Watanabe to earn the Bearcats' doubles win.
Following the event, Cincinnati will participate in the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships from Oct. 19-23.
