Volleyball Concludes Regular Season with Kansas, Iowa State

The University of Cincinnati volleyball team will conclude the home portion of its 2023 schedule when the Bearcats host No. 15-ranked Kansas at 1 p.m. on Wednesday inside Fifth Third Arena.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team will conclude the home portion of its 2023 schedule when the Bearcats host No. 15-ranked Kansas at 1 p.m. on Wednesday inside Fifth Third Arena. 
 
The Bearcats will then travel to Iowa State on Saturday for their regular season finale. First serve between the Bearcats and Cyclones is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET in Ames, Iowa.
 
Cincinnati's matches will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+ and can be followed at StatBroadcast.

UC and Kansas will be meeting for the first time in history.
 
Iowa State leads the all-time series vs. UC, 3-1. The two teams last met on Aug. 24, 2012, resulting in a straight-set victory for the Cyclones. UC's only win against ISU came in five sets on Aug. 30, 1990.

Cincinnati split a pair of five-set matches to Oklahoma (Nov. 17-18) in Fifth Third Arena.
 
The Bearcats opened their two-match series versus the Sooners with a 16-14 fifth-set win on Friday. Junior Abby Walker dominated on the right side, finishing with a team-high 17 kills. She did not commit an attacking error on 31 swings for an efficient .548 hitting percentage.
 
After trailing 0-2, UC forced a fifth set, before falling to Oklahoma on Saturday night. Graduate student libero Carly Skrabak led the Bearcats with a match-high 24 digs in the loss.
 
Walker committed just one attacking error in 10 sets of volleyball over the weekend (32-1-73). She ranked ninth in the Big 12 in hitting percentage (.425) for the week.
 
Freshman Zeta Washington averaged 2.80 kills and 1.20 blocks per set while hitting .308 vs. the Sooners. Her 1.20 blocks per set ranked eighth for the week in the Big 12. She posted 15 kills and tied her career-high seven blocks on Friday.

Junior setter Katelyn Lefler is 66 assists away from 2,000 in her career. She has recorded 14 double-doubles in 25 matches this season, including a stretch of five straight.
 
Lefler has notched 40-plus assists 10 times, with her season-high 55 assists coming against South Carolina on Sept. 9. She ranks eighth in the Big 12 and 92nd nationally with 9.48 assists per set.
