Four Bearcats Named to CSC Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team

University of Cincinnati women's soccer players Ashley Barron, Kendall Battle, Anna Rexford and Fran Stables were named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Women's Soccer Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.

CINCINNATI- University of Cincinnati women's soccer players Ashley Barron, Kendall Battle, Anna Rexford and Fran Stables were named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Women's Soccer Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
 
Barron earned her third straight CSC All-District honor while Battle and Rexord each claimed their second straight honor. Stables was named to the All-District team for the first time in her career.
 
The 2023 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team is selected by College Sports Communicators that recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on December 20.
 
Barron started all 19 games in her final season as a Bearcat while holding a cumulative G.P.A. average of 3.97. She tailed a team high 1,695 minutes this season brining her career total to 7,111 minutes played, the second most career minutes played by a non-goalkeeper in program history. She joined former Bearcats Vanessa Giles and Kayla Utley as the only Bearcats ever to record over 7,000 career minutes played this year. 
 
Battle started all 17 games that she played in this past year and boast a cumulative G.P.A. of 4.0. She tallied over 1,400 minutes played on a backline that recorded four shutouts during the season. The St. Louis, native scored the game-winning against Baylor in the first round of the 2023 Big 12 Soccer Tournament to secure UC's first-ever Big 12 tournament victory.
 
Rexford holds a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.73 and started all 19 games between the post this past season recording a career high 71 saves.  She earned Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week honors after recording back-to-back shutouts against Oklahoma State and Oklahoma and ended the season with four shutouts all together. She has now tallied 15 career shutouts, the seven most in program history and ended the year with a career record of 23-23-18, the sixth most wins in program history.
 
Stables was the teams primary player maker all season long while holding a G.P.A. of 4.0 in her first year as a Bearcat after transferring to UC from Clemson. Stables was the only player on the team to tally double digit points (10) while she led the team in assist with six and added two goals as well. The midfielder's best game of the season came against Baylor in the Big 12 Soccer Tournament as she scored the game's opening goal and had two assist, helping UC secure its first ever Big 12 Tournament victory.
