Women’s Basketball Set to Compete in 2023 Paradise Jam

The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team is set to compete in the 2023 Paradise Jam, beginning Thursday at the Sports and Fitness Center at the University of the Virgin Islands.

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team is set to compete in the 2023 Paradise Jam, beginning Thursday at the Sports and Fitness Center at the University of the Virgin Islands.
 
The Bearcats (2-1) will face third-ranked Colorado on Thursday (1 p.m. ET), 10th-ranked NC State on Friday (3:15 p.m. ET) and Kentucky on Saturday (3:15 p.m. ET).
 
All games will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
// BEARCATS' PARADISE
Cincinnati will participate in the 2023 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam tournament. The 24th installment of the three-day event will be held at the University of Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center from Nov. 23-25 in St. Thomas and televised on ESPN networks. This marks Cincinnati's first-ever appearance in the Thanksgiving holiday tournament.
 
Cincinnati will face Colorado and NC State – both 2023 NCAA Tournament teams – in addition to Kentucky in round-robin action on the Island Tournament side of the bracket.
 
// THE RUNDOWN
Cincinnati made 10 three-pointers during a 71-60 road triumph over Toledo on Sunday afternoon. After not making a three-pointer vs. Lindenwood, Cincinnati bounced back with a much-improved 41.7 percent (10-24) in the victory. The 10 three-pointers fueled the Bearcats to a win in which they led by as many as 19 (57-38).
 
Graduate student Mya Jackson led the way for the Bearcats, posting her ninth career 20-plus point effort with a team-high 22 points. She shot a sizzling 6-of-7 from behind the arc. Overall, she is shooting 53.3% from three-point range (8-15 3FG) this season - good for fourth in the Big 12.
 
Senior Jillian Hayes is one of four Big 12 players averaging a double-double with 13.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. She is shooting 51.9% from the field and 71.4% from the charity stripe. She ranks third in the league in rebounds per game.

Cincinnati will play 12 games against 10 programs that advanced to the 2023 NCAA Tournament. The Bearcats will play four of those games - Louisville, Toledo, Colorado and NC State - in the first five contests.
 
// SERIES HISTORY VS. THE FIELD
Cincinnati will face both Colorado and NC State for the first time in history.

UC and Kentucky have met 26 times in program annals, with the Wildcats owning a 20-6 all-time advantage. The two teams will be meeting for the first time in 14 years. Cincinnati is looking for its first win over Kentucky since 2004.
 
In the last meeting between the two teams, Kentucky defeated UC, 68-57, on Dec. 4, 2009 in Cincinnati. UC is 1-0 vs. Kentucky when playing on a neutral floor. The Bearcats defeated the Wildcats 57-38 in the Baptist Health Systems Women's Fab Four Classic on Dec. 22, 2000 in Miami, Fla.

Cincinnati is looking for first ranked win since Feb. 28, 2011, when the Bearcats took down No. 20 Marquette, 65-62, in Cincinnati.
