Cincinnati Falls to No. 3 Colorado

The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team fell to third-ranked Colorado to open the 2023 Paradise Jam on Thursday at the Sports and Fitness Center at the University of the Virgin Islands.

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team fell to third-ranked Colorado to open the 2023 Paradise Jam on Thursday at the Sports and Fitness Center at the University of the Virgin Islands.
 
The Bearcats (2-2) could not overcome a hot-shooting Colorado team, falling 77-60.
 
Senior Jillian Hayes registered her 49th career game in double figures. She led the Bearcats with a game-high 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting. She tied her career high with two three-pointers made (2-5 3FG).
 
Graduate student Mya Jackson finished in double figures with 11 points while sophomore A'riel Jackson added eight points.
 
Cincinnati finished 35.8 percent from the field (19-53 FG) and made 10 three-pointers for the second straight game (.400). Colorado shot a blistering 53.3 percent from the floor (32-60 FG) and held a plus-34 advantage in points in the paint (48-14). 
 
Colorado owned a 10-2 lead at the first quarter media timeout. Mya Jackson and A'riel Jackson made back-to-back three-pointers (14-8), but the Buffaloes used a 6-0 run to take a nine-point lead at the end of the first (21-12).
 
Mya Jackson and Hayes each drained a three-pointer to begin the second quarter (32-19). A Reagan Jackson three-pointer cut UC's deficit to 10 with 3:36 on the clock (34-24). Hayes connected on her second three-pointer as UC trailed 41-28 at the break.
 
Colorado took its largest lead of the day at the end of the third quarter (64-39). The Bearcats fought back with a 13-2 run to pull within 14 (66-52) but would not get any closer for the remainder of the game, falling 77-60.
