Cincinnati Falls to No. 12 BYU

The University of Cincinnati volleyball team fell to No. 12-ranked BYU on Friday night in Provo, Utah.

PROVO, Utah – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team fell to No. 12-ranked BYU on Friday night in Provo, Utah.  
 
The Bearcats (11-11, 4-8 Big 12) opened their two-match series against the Cougars with a straight-set loss. Junior Abby Walker recorded her 12th double-digit kill performance of the season, posting a team-high 10 kills in the match.

BYU's Erin Livingston led all attackers with 19 kills at a .484 hitting percentage. With the win, the Cougars improved to 11-0 at home.
 
BYU held the advantage in service aces (9-1) and blocks (10-7). The Cougars also outhit the Bearcats, .318 to .077.

// HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | BYU got off to a 6-2 start in the opening set. Back-to-back kills brought UC within two (7-5). The Cougars then rattled off five straight points to extend their lead to nine (18-10). Cincinnati pulled within six after a 3-0 run (22-16), but BYU closed out the set win, 25-17.

SET 2 | Cincinnati used a timeout trailing 6-1 in the second set. Williams registered back-to-back blocks to bring UC within five (14-9). The Cougars then scored four straight points to force Cincinnati to use its second timeout (18-9). The deficit proved too large to overcome as the Bearcats dropped the set, 25-14.

SET 3 | The Bearcats trailed by seven (15-8) when freshman Vivian Campbell came in at the setter position. UC scored the next two points, but BYU quickly responded with four straight (19-10). The Cougars used another scoring run to seal the set win, 25-12, and match, 3-0.
