CINCINNATI— Junior Abby Knouff (pole vault) and graduate student Noah Thomas (weight throw) each broke meet records on Friday as the University of Cincinnati track and field program held its 43rd annual Red vs. Black Intrasquad inside the Centennial Fieldhouse at Mt. Saint Joseph University.

Knouff, a 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championship qualifier, picked up right where she left off last season, breaking the women's pole vault meet record with a mark of 4.04m. She also placed first overall in the long jump with a leap of 5.73m.

The graduate transfer Thomas, who will be making his Bearcat debut next week, won the men's weight throw with a mark of 18.81m, besting former Bearcat Macklin Tudor's meet record of 18.64m.

The Red team claimed victory over the Black team with a combined score of 87-69. The men's Black team bested the men's Red team 43-35, while the women's Red team did the heavy lifting to secure the overall team victory, winning 52-26. The final results from the meet can be found here.

Junior Dominique Hall had quite the intrasquad, as he finished in first place in four events. Hall began his day by tying fellow multi's athlete, senior Justin Abrams, for first in the pole vault with a height of 4.75m. He would then take first in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.26m and then conclude his day with back-to-back victories in the 60-meter hurdles (8.1) and the 600-yard dash (1:16.7).

The intrasquad is typically held inside the Amory Field House, but due to the facility being renovated, the meet was moved to the Centennial Fieldhouse. None of the times or marks from the meet are official and do not count towards NCAA Championship qualification.

The Bearcats officially begin the 2023-24 indoor track and field season next Friday, Dec. 8, at the Indiana Early Bird Meet in Bloomington, Ind.
