BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— The University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field program recorded nine UC all-time top-10 marks on Friday at the Indiana Early Bird Meet inside the Gladstein Fieldhouse.
Freshman Davenae Fagan had a Bearcat debut to remember as she recorded two UC all-time top-10 times in Cincinnati's indoor season-opening meet.
In her first collegiate meet, Fagan began her day by running the eighth fastest 60m dash in school history with a time of 7.58 seconds and placed third overall in the event. She was far from finished as she would again turn on the jets in 300m, finishing fourth overall, clocking in with a time of 38.78, the fifth fastest time in UC history.
Fellow sprinter sophomore Jayda Bushay was right with Fagan all afternoon as she also recorded UC all-time top 10 times in the 60m dash (7.61, 9th) and in the 300m (8.50, 7th).
Also making a big debut was freshman Juliette Laracuente-Huebner, who etched her name into the Cincinnati record book in the women's long jump. One of UC's top incoming freshmen, she recorded the fifth-best long jump in program history with a leap of 5.95m (19' 6.25") and placed second overall in the event.
The Marengo, Ohio native also ran in the 60m hurdles, placing fifth overall with a time of 8.71 seconds.
Graduate students Keco Morrison and Nyile Facey picked up right where they left off last season as each recorded a UC top-10 time. Morrison finished with a time of 35.00 seconds in the men's 300m to move him to eighth overall in the record book, while Facey ran the sixth-fastest 60m hurdle time in school history, crossing the finish line in 8.50 seconds.
In his Cincinnati debut, graduate transfer Noah Thomas finished fifth overall in the men's weight throw with a mark of 18.01m / 59' 1.25", the ninth-best throw in program history.
In the men's 1,000m race, graduate student Colin Smith finished second overall by running the seventh-fastest time in school history (2:29.24).
Three Bearcats took home their first event wins of the season. Freshman Madison Conatser finished first in the women's 1,000m with a time of 3:05.00, which was followed by redshirt senior Jack Barchet taking first in the men's mile with a time of 4:11.65. Rounding off the event victories was sophomore Spirit Morgan, who cleared a bar height of 1.79m / 5' 10.5" for first place in the women's high jump.
