Cincinnati Falls to No.1 Houston in AAC Semifinals

The University of Cincinnati men's basketball team fell 69-48 to No. 1 Houston in the American Athletic Conference Championship Semifinals on Saturday.

FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of Cincinnati men's basketball team fell 69-48 to No. 1 Houston in the American Athletic Conference Championship Semifinals on Saturday.
 
Redshirt senior guard Landers Nolley II finished with 14 points, his 29th double-digit scoring game of the season, while graduate student guard David DeJulius added seven points and five assists. It marks DeJulius' 21st game, his 17th in the last 18, with five-plus assists.
 
Houston converted on five of its first six possessions, while sophomore forward Viktor Lakhin connected on a pick and roll jump shot from the top of the key to head into the first media timeout at 11-2.
 
A steal and transition finish from senior guard Mika Adams-Woods and a step-back three from Nolley II out of the timeout trimmed the margin to 13-7. Adam-Woods tied a career-high four steals in the contest.
 
Trailing 19-7, the Bearcats held the Cougars scoreless for a stretch of 2:33 minutes and senior forward Ody Oguama and Nolley II converted on attempts from the line and freshman guard Dan Skillings Jr. knocked down a three to spark a 6-1 run that cut the score back to single digits.
 
Senior guard Jeremiah Davenport buried a three to make it 24-16.
 
DeJulius scored or assisted on nine straight points out of half to cut the score to 42-32 out of the locker room.
 
Nolley II's third triple of the contest pushed the margin back to under 10 for the first time since the 4:36-mark of the first half at 44-35.
 
The margin increased to 25 as the Bearcats could not mount the late comeback.
