CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field teams are ready for their weekend trip to Tampa. Fla, for the 2023 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
// 2023 AAC INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
The AAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held at the USF Track Complex in Tampa, Fla., and are hosted by the University of South Florida. Day one of the three-day conference championships will begin Friday, May 12. The meet will continue throughout the weekend and conclude on Sunday, May 14. A complete schedule of events and start times can be found here.

// BEARCATS IN RANKINGS
In the latest USTFCCCA national rankings, the women's team earned its highest ranking of the season, coming in at 34th in the nation. The team also ranks sixth in the Great Lakes region and second in the American Athletic Conference. The men's team currently holds the third spot in the AAC and the ninth spot in the Great Lakes Region.
In the latest USTFCCCA event squad rankings, the UC men's shot put squad and women's high jump squad both hold a top-10 ranking. The shot put squad ranks fourth in the nation with a combined distance of 73.23m/240'3" and is led by senior Fred Moudani with his school record mark of 20.03m/6'8.75".
The women's high jump squad is currently fifth in the nation with a combined height of 6.99m/22' 11.25" and is led by senior Taylor Beard with her mark of 1.84m/6'.05".
// INDIVIDUAL AAC RANKINGS (Top 3)
Heading into the conference championships, Bearcats lead the conference in six events and rank inside the top three in 17 events.
Running Events:
Five Cincinnati track and field program records have fallen this season. Senior Rylee Penn's breakout season continues as she has now broken two UC track and field records this season. The Corona, Calif., native has broken both the 1500m (4:10.13) and 800m (2:01.90) program records and ranks sixth in the nation in both categories.
Senior Fred Moudani broke his own UC outdoor shot put record with a throw of 20.03m/65'8.75". This is the third time this season that he has accomplished the feat as he bested his previous mark by almost a full meter (19.35m/63' 6). The Savigny-Le-Temple, France native's throw currently ranks ninth in the nation and third in the NCAA East Region.
Graduate student Nyile Facey turned on the jets and broke the UC 400-meter hurdle record with a time of 58.97 at the Penn Relays. Her time would currently qualify her for the NCAA East Preliminary round.
Junior Leonie Troeger bested her own javelin school record (53.43m/175'4"), which is the 19th-best throw in the nation. Her throw currently leads the American and is more than 23 feet further than the next best mark in the conference.
// AAC CHAMPIONSHIPS HISTORY
Cincinnati men's and women's track and field program will be making their ninth appearance at the conference championships since joining The American in 2014.
The UC women's team has found success in the past, claiming back-to-back conference titles in 2016 and 2017. Cincinnati is tied with Houston (2) and SMU (2) for most conference championships won by one team. The Bearcats have never finished lower than third in the team standings since 2015.
The UC men's team is coming off winning their first-ever AAC conference championship during the indoor season and will look to achieve similar success during the outdoor conference championships. The UC men's team has never finished higher than third in the team standings at the outdoor championships and will be looking to claim their first outdoor conference title since 2005.
Bearcats have earned 45 individual and two relay conference titles since joining the AAC and has claimed 170 AAC All-Conference honors. At the 2022 conference championships, the Bearcats claimed nine event titles and earned 19 All-Conference honors.
This will be the Bearcat's last appearance at the AAC Championships as Cincinnati will move to the Big 12 next year.
