CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati women's basketball revealed Friday its 11-game non-conference slate ahead of the 2023-24 season.
"Our non-conference schedule provides a number of challenges that will help us assess our team before conference play," said head coach Katrina Merriweather. "One of the biggest tests comes right away on opening night against Louisville."
Cincinnati is scheduled to play four teams – Colorado, Louisville, NC State and Toledo – that advanced to the 2023 NCAA Tournament. The Bearcats will face Colorado, NC State, and Siena for the first time.
Cincinnati takes the court for the first time on Nov. 1 in an exhibition contest with Ohio Dominican.
The Merriweather and Big 12 era will officially open when Cincinnati hosts Louisville for the first of six non-conference home contests inside Fifth Third Arena on Nov. 6. Louisville became the only team in the nation to make it to each of the last five Elite Eights last season.
Junior guard Braylyn Milton erupted for a career-high 28 points in last season's season opener matchup at Louisville. This will be the first time Cincinnati will play Louisville at home since 2014 and will mark the 70th series meeting, the highest total against any opponent in program history.
Cincinnati hosts Lindenwood for Education Day on Nov. 15 before it hits the road for the first time to take on Toledo on Nov. 19. Toledo claimed the MAC Championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament while tying a school-record 29 wins for the second consecutive season in 2022-23.
Cincinnati then travels to participate in the Paradise Jam Tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands over Thanksgiving break from Nov. 23-25. Cincinnati will play a three-game round robin slate versus Colorado on Nov. 23, N.C. State on Nov. 24 before closing out the trip with Kentucky on Nov. 25.
The neutral site contest with regional opponent Kentucky marks the first meeting between the two teams since 2009.
The Bearcats' longest homestand of the season will kick off on Dec. 1 with Tennessee State before Cincinnati welcomes rival Xavier for the annual Crosstown Shootout on Dec. 10. The Bearcats have taken three the last four from their crosstown foe.
Cincinnati wraps up the stretch when it hosts Howard on Dec. 12.
Following the homestand, Cincinnati hits the road to take on Southern Indiana on Dec. 17. The Bearcats defeated the Screaming Eagles at home last season, 99-57, the most points scored by the program since Nov. 21, 2003.
Cincinnati will close out its non-conference portion of the schedule at home with Siena on Dec. 21.
