CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday against West Virginia. Tip-off between the Bearcats and Mountaineers is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET inside Fifth Third Arena.

// THE RUNDOWN
  • Cincinnati (9-7, 1-4 Big 12) pulled within three late in the third quarter, before ultimately falling to BYU, 68-58, on Saturday in Provo, Utah. The Bearcats could not overcome a second quarter in which the Cougars scored 25 points.
  • Senior Malea Williams scored a game-high 15 points to go along with seven rebounds vs. BYU. She tied her career-high in three-pointers made with four in the performance. She is averaging 16.0 points and 9.0 rebounds and is shooting 66.7% from the field and 50% from 3-point range over the last two games.
  • Junior Braylyn Milton has come alive offensively for the Bearcats over the last two games. She is averaging 11.0 points and 3.5 assists and is shooting 50.0% from behind the arc (6-12 3FG) during the stretch. 
  • Senior Jillian Hayes is averaging nearly a double-double with 12.8 points and 8.5 rebounds and is shooting 47.8% from the field this season. She sits fifth in the Big 12 and 75th nationally in rebounds per game (8.5). She has recorded five double-doubles in 2023-24, with the most recent coming against West Virginia on January 3 (18 points and 11 rebounds).
  • With nine rebounds vs. UCF, senior Jillian Hayes became the eighth player in program history to record over 1,000 points and 700 rebounds in their career. She currently ranks fourth in blocks (111), sixth in rebounds (711), seventh in free throws made (317) and 10th in steals (162) in program history.
  • Senior Malea Williams is averaging 9.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks and is shooting 44.9% from the field this season. She sits sixth in the Big 12 in blocks per game (1.2) and 13th in rebounding (6.9). She has recorded six multi-block performances and has led the team in blocks nine times this season.
  • The Bearcats are 8-3 when they outrebound their opponent. UC sits 23rd in the country in offensive rebounds per game (15.2). The Bearcats have won the rebounding battle in four of their five Big 12 contests (+2.8).
  • Cincinnati has made 346 trips to the free throw line this season, making 253 of its attempts (.731). The Bearcats sit first in the Big 12 and 15th nationally in free throws made per game (15.8). UC is 8-3 when it makes more free throws than its opponent.
  • Hayes is getting to the free throw line at a high rate, making the second-most foul shots in the Big 12 (73-90 FT). She also sits seventh in the league in free throw percentage (.811).
  • UC ranks 17th in the nation in three-point field goal defense, holding its opponents to 25.3% from behind the arc.
  • The Bearcats finished non-conference play with an 8-3 record for their best non-conference winning percentage (72.7%) in 15 years. UC won six consecutive games during the stretch for its longest win streak since 2019-20.
