CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team fell to West Virginia on Saturday afternoon in Fifth Third Arena.
 
The Bearcats (9-8, 1-5 Big 12) suffered a 72-43 loss to the Mountaineers (16-2, 5-2 Big 12). Cincinnati committed a season-high 29 turnovers which resulted in 35 points for West Virginia.
 
Cincinnati shot 28.6% from the floor (12-42 FG) and 15.4% from 3-point range (2-13 3FG). UC, who leads the Big 12 in free throws made per game, finished 17-of-20 from the stripe (.850).
 
The Mountaineers finished 46.6% from the field (27-58 FG) and made five three-pointers (.294). WVU was plus-30 in points in the paint (42-12).

The Bearcats won the rebounding battle for the fifth time in conference play (32-27). Senior Jillian Hayes pulled down a game-high seven boards to go along with eight points. 
 
Cincinnati was shutout in the first quarter as West Virginia ran out to a 15-0 lead.
 
The Bearcats got on the board after a Reagan Jackson three-pointer with 9:25 in the second quarter (17-3). Cincinnati later rattled off a 6-0 run to cut its deficit to 10 (19-9). West Virginia pushed its advantage back out to 15 at the break (33-18). The Bearcats went 8-of-10 from the charity stripe in the quarter.
 
Cincinnati could not pull any closer for the remainder of the game, falling 72-43.
