NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team fell to Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon in Norman, Okla.
The Bearcats (8-6, 0-3 Big 12) pulled with one at the start of the fourth quarter (56-55), but the Sooners used an 8-0 run to pull away with the 77-64 victory. OU outscored UC 24-15 in the final quarter.
Junior Clarissa Craig recorded a season-high 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting and pulled down four boards. Senior Jillian Hayes (11) and freshman Reagan Jackson (10) also finished in double figures.
Redshirt junior Ta'Ziah Jenks continues to give the Bearcats valuable minutes off the bench. She finished with eight points and a season-high six rebounds.
UC finished 38.6% from the floor (22-57 FG) and 25% from behind the arc (4-16 3FG). The Bearcats were unable to overcome 23 turnovers in the loss.
The Sooners shot 38.6% from the field (27-70 FG), including a blistering 60% in the fourth quarter. OU made six three-pointers in the second half.
Cincinnati got on the board after a Hayes jumper with 7:35 in the first quarter. Jenks notched back-to-back buckets to even the score at the media timeout (9-9). The Sooners finished the quarter on an 8-0 run to lead by eight (17-8).
Reagan Jackson had five straight to make it a five-point game with 3:05 left in the first half (28-23). The Bearcats were in the hunt as they trailed by five at the break (31-26).
Braylyn Milton and A'riel Jackson had back-to-back baskets to start the second half (31-30). After an OU jumper, the Bearcats rattled off six straight points to take their first lead of the ballgame (37-33).
Cincinnati extended its advantage to eight (42-34) before Oklahoma used a 7-0 run to reclaim the lead (45-44). OU hit back-to-back treys to take a four-point lead with one quarter remaining (53-49).
Hayes sunk a pair of free throws to start the final period (53-51) and Craig converted an and-one with 7:44 on the clock (56-54). Oklahoma then went on an 8-0 run over two minutes to take control for the remainder of the game, 77-64.
