MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Cincinnati lacrosse team fell to Marquette 18-12 in Sunday's season opener in Milwaukee, Wis.

The Golden Eagles took an early lead, scoring two goals within the first five minutes of play.

Cincinnati bounced back in the second quarter with goals from senior midfielder Lauren Ottensmeyer and sophomore attacker Camryn Callaghan to make the score 6-2.

Sophomore midfielder Lexie Wolfe grabbed herself a goal to close out the first half with Marquette in front, 8-3.

The Bearcats came out of the break strong with junior attacker Kylie Gioia finding the net with the assist by senior midfielder Lindsey Durkota.

Callaghan followed by recording her second goal of the day.

Ottensmeyer's second goal came with 2:30 left in the third quarter, with an assist from senior attacker Elizabeth Murphy.

Cincinnati found rhythm in the fourth quarter, recording four unanswered goals, two from Callaghan and one each from Wolfe and Ottensmeyer.

Callaghan ended with six goals alongside Ottensmeyer's hat trick.

The Bearcats' last-minute spurt would end up not being enough to overcome the Golden Eagles. 

Junior attack/midfielder Meg Birely led Marquette with seven goals.
