CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team rallied late before falling to 23rd-ranked Oklahoma on Tuesday night in Fifth Third Arena.
 
Cincinnati (12-14, 4-11 Big 12) went on a 13-2 run over the final 2:30 minutes to nearly complete the comeback against league leader Oklahoma.
 
The Bearcats tied their season high in points and scored 30 in the fourth quarter – their most in a quarter this season. Cincinnati shot 41.9% from the floor (31-74 FG) and made five three-pointers (.227) in the contest. 
 
Senior Jillian Hayes turned in her 10th career 20-point outing, going 7-of-14 from the floor. She became just the fifth player in program history to reach 800 career rebounds with seven boards vs. the Sooners. 
 
Senior Malea Williams scored a career-high 18 points (6-9 FG) and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
 
Sophomore A'riel Jackson finished in double figures for the sixth time in the last eight games. She was a point shy of her career high with 18 (8-9 FT) and added a season-high five assists. 
 
Oklahoma jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Williams helped UC pull within three with 5:38 on the clock (11-8). The Sooners extended their advantage to 11 after six straight points. Williams scored 10 points (4-6 FG) in the opening quarter as UC trailed by six (23-17).
 
Cincinnati scored the first two baskets of the second quarter to make it a two-point game (23-21). The Bearcats later evened the score after a Braylyn Milton trey and a Brianna Byars jumper (26-26). The Sooners made a three-pointer at the buzzer to take a seven-point lead into the break (44-37).
 
Oklahoma took its largest lead of the game with 4:22 on the clock in the third quarter (68-46). UC responded with 9-2 run to trail by 14 with 10 minutes remaining (71-57). 

The Bearcats pulled within 11 with 8:20 to go in the fourth quarter, but the Sooners immediately answered with a three-pointer (81-67). Cincinnati fought back with a 13-2 run over the final 2:30 minutes. The rally came up short as Oklahoma escaped with the win, 95-87.
