CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati baseball team heads to Coastal Carolina this weekend where it will face the No. 25-ranked Chanticleers as well as Ball State and Illinois.
First pitch for Friday's game vs. Ball State has been pushed back to 8 PM due to rain. It was originally scheduled to start at 11 AM.
The Bearcats face Illinois at noon on Saturday and will conclude their weekend by facing Coastal Carolina at 1 PM on Sunday, which fans will be able to watch on ESPN+.
Sunday's game vs. the Chanticleers will also be UC's first versus a ranked team this year after playing 12 contests against ranked opponents last year.
Cincinnati is coming off its first win of the year, a 10-2 victory vs. Northern Kentucky at home this past Tuesday. The win was also the first for head coach Jordan Bischel since arriving at UC.
// LAST TIME OUT
The Bearcats' 10-2 win over the Norse marked the eighth time in the last nine seasons that they have won their home opener at UC Baseball Stadium.
Cincinnati struck first on Tuesday and continued to pile it on as the game continued, putting up crooked numbers in the sixth and seventh innings to put the game out of reach.
Landyn Vidourek had a strong day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI, his first career multi-homer game. Tommy O'Connor also had a three-hit day, and teammates Lauden Brooks and Christian Mitchelle both had two hits apiece. Brooks also stole two bases and scored twice. Dalton Pearson had a productive day hitting out of the leadoff spot, going 1-for-2 with a walk and a sac fly while getting plunked twice.
Six different Bearcat pitchers saw time on the mound, with Nathan Taylor earning the start and tallying three strikeouts in two scoreless frames. Mitchelle tossed a scoreless ninth inning and Chase Horst, Carson Marsh, and Griffin Hugus all turned in scoreless outings as well.
