CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team hits the road for the first time this season to face crosstown rival, Xavier, on Friday at the Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
The Bearcats (5-1) are looking to bounce back after falling to Miami (Ohio) 6-1 on Feb. 16.
UC came out strong, securing a tough doubles point with freshmen Morgan Pyrz and Sakurako Watanabe grabbing a doubles win to improve to 4-0 as a pair this season, while sophomore Rozalia Gruszczynska and freshman Gabrielle Guenther also defeated the Redhawks in doubles to secure the doubles point..
However, the Bearcats couldn't capitalize on the momentum to start the contest and dropped each singles match.
Cincinnati has been led by Gruszczynska this season. She is 5-1 in singles, playing primarily at the No. 1 position and 10-2 overall in singles and doubles.
SCOUTING THE MUSKETEERS
The Bearcats are 7-10 all-time in their matchups against the Musketeers.
Xavier brings a 6-3 record this season into the match.
The Musketeers return home after finishing up their four-game road trip with a 5-2 loss at Michigan State.
