CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati lacrosse team defeated Central Michigan on Friday inside Nippert Stadium, 17-4.

CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati lacrosse team defeated Central Michigan, 17-4, on Friday inside Nippert Stadium.

The Bearcats boasted eight different scorers, including the first collegiate goals by freshman midfielder Caroline Soller and junior attacker Megan Young.

UC took a 2-0 lead early in the first quarter with goals from junior attacker Kylie Gioia and senior midfielder Ava Goeller.

A goal by senior midfielder Lauren Ottensmeyer opened the second quarter. She finished with three goals to mark her third hat trick of the season.

Cincinnati went on to outscore Central Michigan,7-2, in the second half.

Sophomore attacker Camryn Callaghan also secured her third hat trick of the season, finishing with five goals on seven shots.

Graduate student goalkeeper Victoria Macres notched eight saves, giving her 34 on the season and 80 in her career. 

Graduate defender Sophia Finotti and senior Alexis Rich led the Bearcats defense with four combined turnovers forced.

Senior Lindsey Durkota lent a helping hand as the Bearcats' newest addition to the starting lineup, finishing with three assists.

Cincinnati improved to 2-2 on the season.
