The University of Cincinnati track and field men's and women's track and field teams had 11 podium finishes as the program wrapped up competition at the 2024 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.

LUBBOCK, Texas — The University of Cincinnati track and field men's and women's track and field teams had 11 podium finishes as the program wrapped up competition at the 2024 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.
 
The Bearcats recorded 13 UC all-time indoor top ten marks over the two-day meet, including eight inside the top five in program history.
 
In the team's first-ever appearance at the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships, freshman Juliette Laracuente-Huebner (pentathlon, 3rd), graduate student Hannah Jackson (weight throw, 4th) the men's DMR team (7th), the women's 4x400m relay (8th), Nyile Facey (60m hurdles, 7th), Justin  Abrams (heptathlon, 4th), Tyler Wirth (mile, 2nd), Gianni Allwein (mile, 5th), Justin Abrams (heptathlon, 4th), Mallory Mullen (high jump, t6th) and Annika Kinley (high jump, t6th) earned podium finishes.
 
Overall, the UC men finished 12th with 19 points, while the women finished 14th with 17 points.
 
// Day 2
Graduate student Tyler Wirth led charge on day two of the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships as he placed second overall in the men's mile with a time of 4:03.01. The Hawley, Pa., native chased down Oklahoma State's Ryan Schoppe on the final lap and finished less than a second behind the Cowboy.
 
Running with Wirth in the mile was freshman Gianni Allwein, who closed out his breakout indoor season by placing fifth overall with a time of 4:05.71.
 
Junior Justin Abrams found his way to the podium after scoring a personal best 5,559 points in the men's heptathlon finishing fourth overall, as his score moved him to fourth all-time in school history.
 
He recorded personal best in the 60m dash (7.08), 60m hurdle (8.29), 1,000m (2:49.87) and recorded the sixth best indoor pole vault mark in school history, clearing a bar height of 5.13m / 16' 10" to achieve his record score.
 
After her historic day one performance in the women's pentathlon on Friday, Juliette Laracuente-Huebner turned heads again on Saturday as she recorded the fifth-best triple jump mark in program history, leaping 12.57m / 41' 3". She finished 11th overall in the event.
 
High jumpers Mallory Mullen and Annika Kinley tied for sixth-place in their event – both leaping 1.72m (5-7 ¾), while Nyile Facey placed seventh in the women's 60m hurdles (8.42).
 
The women's 4x400m relay team of Davenae Fagan, Hannah Connell, Jayda Bushay and Facey capped the meet with an eight-place finish in 3:41.16 – marking the third-best time in UC history.

Juliette Laracuente-Huebner's historic pentathlon performance led the way for the Bearcats on day one of the 2024 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships.
 
As the only freshman entered in the pentathlon competition, she proved she would be a force to be reckoned with over the next couple of years as she placed third overall, scoring 4,134 points, the second most in program history.
 
Breaking down her historic day, she placed third in the 60m hurdles (8.50), long jump (6.06m) and high jump (1.74m), which was the 10th-best bar clearance in school history.
 
She also placed ninth in the 800m (2:26.66) and eighth in the shot put (11.24m) to achieve her record point total that currently sits as the 14th-best pentathlon score in the NCAA.
 
In total, Bearcats recorded nine UC top-10 marks on day 1, with five being inside the top three in program history.
 
Hannah Jackson started her weekend off strong by placing fourth overall in the women's weight throw with a personal best throw of 19.87m / 65' 2.25". This is the third time this season she has recorded a new personal best, all of which have been over 64 feet.
 
The dynamic duo of graduate students Jed Helker and Matt Hoak both recorded UC all-time top five times in the men's 1,000m run prelims. Helker recorded the second fastest time in school history to cross the finish line with a time of 2:25.02, while Hoak clocked the fourth fastest time in program history with a time of 2:26.55. The pair finished ninth and 12th overall.
 
The men's distance medley relay team composed of Tyler Wirth (1200m), Camden Beatty (400m), Jack Barchet (800m) and Seth Elking (mile) closed out day one by running the second fastest DMR time in program history (9:43.68) and scored the men's first points of the meet.
 
At the end of day one, the UC women scored 11 points and are currently tied for ninth overall, while the men are tied for 11th.
