The University of Cincinnati volleyball team will open its spring slate on Wednesday, March 6 with a match against Kentucky at 8 p.m. in Fifth Third Arena. The match will be open to the public.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team will open its spring slate on Wednesday, March 6 with a match against Kentucky at 8 p.m. in Fifth Third Arena. The match will be open to the public.

The scrimmage against Kentucky will be the first match of the spring schedule for the Bearcats. The remaining matches will be released at a later date.

Cincinnati returns 13 letterwinners and five starters from its inaugural Big 12 season. The Bearcats posted a top-10 league finish and saw middle blocker Zeta Washington collect Big 12 All-Rookie honors. 

The Bearcats added a pair of mid-year transfers in right side Irbe Lazda (Towson) and middle blocker Sydney Nolan (UNC). Lazda was selected Second Team All-CAA and CAA All-Tournament after posting 290 kills at a .352 hitting percentage in 2023. Nolan was a 2023 ACC All-Fresman Team selection with a .392 hitting percentage and 69 total blocks. 

Kentucky finished the 2023 season ranked No. 10 in the final American Volleyball Coaches' Association top-25 coaches' poll. The Wildcats posted a 21-8 overall record and 17-1 mark in the SEC.
