CINCINNATI – Nine first-quarter goals, including two by Camryn Callaghan in the final 13 seconds, powered the Cincinnati lacrosse team to a 25-4 victory over Youngstown State on Thursday afternoon, its largest-ever margin of victory.

The 25 goals also matched a March 8, 2020 win over Kent State for the most in program history. It was also the first-ever Leap Day win for the team and first-such contest since its inaugural 2008 season.

The nine scores were the most in any quarter this season. It also marked the second-straight game it had eight in the opening frame (Butler on Friday).

Fifteen different Bearcats scored, led by Callaghan and Lauren Ottensmeyer, who had four goals in what was her second matchup against her former school. Callaghan, the defending AAC Attacker of the Week, extended her team-lead with 27 goals.

Harper Clopton added her first-career goal on a free-position attempt late in the third quarter. Other debuts in the scoring column included freshmen Malia Adams and Paige Counts

Cincinnati out-shot the Penguins 42-14 and had a 23-8 advantage in draw controls.

The Bearcats (4-2) will continue their three-game homestand Sunday against Kent State at noon. Admission is free.
