CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team returns home to open Big 12 play over the weekend against Baylor and TCU. The Bearcats are set to face off against Baylor on Friday at the Western Athletic Club. First serve against the Bears is set for 1 p.m.
Cincinnati will host TCU on Sunday at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center, marking the first outdoor match of the season. First serve against the Horned Frogs is set for 12 p.m. Depending on the weather, the match could be moved indoors at the Western Athletic Club with a possible start time change as well.
The Bearcats (5-2) are looking to bounce back this weekend after falling to Xavier on Feb. 23.
Sophomore Rozalia Gruszczynska and freshman Sakurako Watanabe lead the team in singles wins, both boast a 5-2 record, while the doubles pair of freshman Gabrielle Guenther and Gruszczynska lead the way in doubles with a 5-2 record competing on the number one court.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
This marks the first meeting between the Bearcats and the Bears in program history.
Baylor brings a 6-4 record this season into the match.
The Bears are battle-tested, having faced four ranked opponents, but losing each matchup. Baylor fell at No. 9 Florida (6-1), lost at No. 10 Texas (4-0), lost at No. 21 Washington (4-2) and fell at home against No. 19 Texas A&M (4-0) in its last match.
