CINCINNATI – Cincinnati Athletics hosted its second annual "In Her Likeness" event, presented by altafiber and Cincy Reigns, on Monday evening inside Fifth Third Arena.
More than 100 female student-athletes at Cincinnati gained insight into networking opportunities, NIL sponsorship strategies and personal brand development, as well as advice from a professional panel.
Cincy Reigns facilitated 100 NIL deals from altafiber – an unprecedented activation – that is believed to be the largest number of female-only deals ever presented by a collective at a single collegiate event.
"NIL is changing the landscape of college athletics and it's important that female athletes be empowered to navigate the business side of their personal brand and develop an entrepreneurial mindset," said Angela Huber, Vice President and Treasurer at altafiber. "I was excited to share my thoughts with these women, and am proud to work for a company that supports female athletes through sponsorships like this event."
The event focused on educating and empowering female student-athletes to advance their personal brand providing networking opportunities and creating professional, personal and philanthropic connections.
The panel featured: Huber (Former UC track and field student-athlete, altafiber employee), Sierra Hassel (Altius Sports Partners NIL, former Nebraska Gymnast), Lorna Rose (UC Academy, Pageants, Law), Paris Alexander (UC Lacrosse student-athlete) and Shannon Williams (Former UC Volleyball student-athlete, BMW Marketing employee).
"Monday's event showcased the power of community support, with partners like altafiber and Cincy Reigns leading the charge," said Eddie Taylor, UC Assistant Director of NIL Innovation." Together, we're investing in our female student-athletes, harnessing the potential of NIL to prepare them not just for their collegiate years, but for a lifetime of success."
Following the panel, the student-athletes split into groups and participated in an interactive workshop that fostered conversations surrounding NIL, content creation, and brand development. They moved through 10 different stations.
The workshop's engaging nature allowed the student-athletes to connect with their peers and the panelists.
