CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati lacrosse team hits the road to face Xavier on Sunday afternoon (12 p.m.) at Corcoran Field.

The Bearcats are 5-3 after falling to Louisville, 18-13, on Wednesday. Cincinnati sits fourth in the AAC behind #11 Florida, Temple and #2 James Madison.

Graduate student Victoria Macres and freshman Hailey Joy Simpson earned AAC Goalkeeper of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors, respectively, following the Bearcats' back-to-back victories.

Sophomore Camryn Callaghan grabbed her second Honor Roll accolade of the season as well.

Callaghan ranks first in the conference in goals per game (4.50), while senior Lauren Ottensmeyer sits at the top in shots per game (8.25).

// LAST TIME OUT
Against Louisville, Ottensmeyer led the Bearcats with a career-high six goals. She has 31 goals this season.

Callaghan finished with three goals, making this her eighth straight game recording a hat trick. She moves into the sixth spot in program history with 92 career goals.

Ottenmeyer's first-quarter hat trick gave Cincinnati an early 3-0 lead, but Louisville's Kokoro Nakazawa quickly answered with two goals to close out the first 15 minutes of play.

Macres registered a career-high 13 saves with a .419 save percentage.

Junior defender Alexis Rich earned the first goal of her career late in the fourth quarter to cut the Cardinals' lead to five goals.

Fourth-quarter goals by Grace Jenny, Ottensmeyer, Callaghan and Rich sparked a fuse in the Bearcats' energy but the late rally was not enough to overcome Louisville's dominant offense.

// SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first official meeting between the crosstown rivals. The Musketeers are in their second season as a program with a 3-3 record.

// SCOUTING THE MUSKETEERS
Head coach Meg Decker enters her second season at the helm of the program. Last season, she led Xavier to four wins.

The most notable returning player is sophomore attack, Lola Mancuso. Mancuso scored the first program goal, the first free position goal, the first hat trick, and the first sock trick, as well as became the first player to be named a BIG EAST Freshman of the Week and the 2023 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year. She led the Musketeers in points, goals, free position goals, shots on goal, total shots, game-winning goals, and man-up and man-down goals.
