Bearcats Defeat Monarchs, 13-9

NORFOLK, Va. – The Cincinnati lacrosse team grabbed their first conference win of the season with a 13-9 victory of Old Dominion on Sunday inside L.R. Hill Sports Complex.

NORFOLK, Va. – The Cincinnati lacrosse team grabbed their first conference win of the season with a 13-9 victory over Old Dominion on Sunday inside L.R. Hill Sports Complex.    
 
Cincinnati (8-3, 1-0) scored early in the first quarter with back-to-back goals from Grace Jenny and Ava Goeller. Old Dominion quickly responded with a goal of their own.
 
After recording three goals today, sophomore Camryn Callaghan is just two away from hitting the 100-career goal milestone.
 
Senior Lauren Ottensmeyer found the back of the net twice in the first half, powering her to end with four goals. She's registered 41 goals this season, the second most for the Bearcats.
 
UC had a 10-6 lead heading into the half, thanks to goals from Lindsey Durkota, Hailey Joy Simpson and Callaghan.
 
Cincinnati held Old Dominion scoreless in the third quarter before the Monarchs scored two quick goals midway through the fourth.
 
Graduate student goalie Victoria Macres notched a career-high 15 saves on a .625 save percentage.
 
The Bearcats had a 17-8 draw control advantage over the Monarchs. Graduate Student Dani Mlkvy finished with eight.
