CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team has been selected for the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), the organization announced on Sunday night.

The Bearcats received a first-round bye in the tournament and will play the winner of Purdue Fort Wayne (21-12) and Eastern Kentucky (22-11) in the second round. Date, time and location are TBD for the second round matchup.

Cincinnati finished 14-17 under first year head coach Katrina Merriweather, improving by five wins from last year. The Bearcats have made the WNIT nine times in their history and hold a 5-8 all-time record. It marks UC's first postseason appearance since 2019.

UC was led by senior forward Jillian Hayes, who collected All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and averaged 12.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
