The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team concluded the regular season with a 76-60 loss to Iowa State on Saturday afternoon in Hilton Coliseum.

AMES, Iowa – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team concluded the regular season with a 76-60 loss to Iowa State on Saturday afternoon in Hilton Coliseum.
 
Cincinnati finishes the regular season with a 13-16 overall record and 5-13 mark in the Big 12. The Bearcats will turn their focus to the 2024 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship next week, hosted March 7-12 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo.
 
UC led by four at the half (36-32) before Iowa State used a 28-point third quarter to pull away with the win. The Bearcats entered the game 12-0 when leading at the half. 
 
The Cyclones shot a blistering 51.8% from the field (29-56 FG), including 71.4% in the third quarter, and made 12 three-pointers (.400).
 
Cincinnati finished 36% from the floor (18-50 FG) and 3-point range (7-19 3FG). The Bearcats, the Big 12 leader in free throws made, went 17-of-21 from the charity stripe (.810).
 
Senior Malea Williams paced the Bearcats with 18 points and four 3-pointers, tying her career high in both categories. She added five rebounds, three steals and two blocks in the performance.
 
Sophomore A'riel Jackson (15) and senior Jillian Hayes (11) also finished in double figures. Freshman center Delaney Snyder gave the Bearcats valuable minutes off the bench, scoring five points in seven minutes.
 
Hayes scored a quick five points in the first five minutes of the game. A'riel Jackson hit a three-pointer to even the score at the first quarter media timeout (10-10). The Bearcats then went on a 7-0 run to take their first lead of the game (19-15). A'riel Jackson drained another three at the buzzer to extend UC's advantage to four (22-18).
 
Williams went on a personal 7-0 run to give Cincinnati its largest lead at 5:43 in the second quarter (31-25). The Bearcats took a four-point lead into the locker room (36-32) behind a 44.8% clip in the first half. 
 
Iowa State came out of the half on a 14-0 run (46-36). Hayes converted a tough and-1 for the Bearcats' first points at 6:04 on the clock (46-39). Cincinnati pulled within seven after an A'riel Jackson jumper (52-45), but the Cyclones responded with eight straight to end the quarter (60-45). Iowa State outscored Cincinnati 28-9 in the decisive third quarter. 
 
UC would not get any closer than 12 for the remainder of the game, falling 76-60.
