Tennis Hits the Road to Take on Kansas State and No. 1 Oklahoma State

The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team hits the road this week to face off against Kansas State and No. 1 Oklahoma State.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team hits the road this week to face off against Kansas State and No. 1 Oklahoma State.
 
The Bearcats begin the week against the Wildcats on Thursday at the Mike Goss Tennis Stadium. First serve against Kansas State is set for 5 p.m. ET. Kansas State is in the process of installing cameras and they may not be ready by match time, so fans can stay up to date on @GoBearcatsWTEN on X.
 
Cincinnati then clashes with the Cowgirls on Saturday at the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center. First serve against Oklahoma State is at 12 p.m. ET.

The Bearcats (7-8) are coming off their first win in the Big 12 after they defeated the Houston Cougars 4-0 on March 24.
 
Freshman Sakurako Watanabe is coming off a great weekend. The Kentucky native won three out of her four matches playing at the No. 3 spot in doubles and No. 5 spot in singles against UCF and Houston.
 
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
The Bearcats have only matched up against the Wildcats once in program history. The last time they faced off against each other was on Feb. 7, 2015. The Bearcats won the match, 4-3.
 
Kansas State brings a 7-9 overall record and 1-7 conference mark this season into the matchup.

The Wildcats are currently immersed in a seven-game losing skid and are returning home after a two-game road swing against No. 20 Oklahoma and No. 7 Texas. Kansas State got swept in both matches, 4-0 versus the Sooners and 4-0 against the Longhorns.
 
SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS
This is the first matchup between these two teams..
 
Oklahoma State is the best team in the country holding the only undefeated record in the nation this season at 17-0 and an 8-0 conference record.
 
The Cowgirls have five singles players and two doubles teams ranked by ITA.
 
No. 4 Ange Oby Kajuru, No. 10 Anastasiya Komar, No. 65 Lucia Peyre, No. 77 Safiya Carrington and No. 81 Ayumi Miyamoto lead in singles.
 
No. 8 Ange Oby Kajuru and Anastasiya Komar as well as No. 22 Anastasiya Komar and Raquel Gonzalez are two of the nation's top doubles pairs.
 
Oklahoma State is heading into the backend of the week coming off two wins against Texas (4-3) and Oklahoma (4-1). The Cowgirls will face off against West Virginia (13-6) on Thursday before welcoming the Bearcats on Saturday.
 
The Cowgirls have been led all season by Oby Kajuru and Komar. Oby Kajuru plays mainly out of the No. 2 spot and holds an 11-2 record on the season. Komar holds down the No. 1 spot and boasts an 8-4 record.
