CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati lacrosse team gears up for an Easter weekend matchup against East Carolina inside Nippert Stadium at 12 p.m.

Cincinnati (8-4, 1-1) is the only team in the nation to boast two players with 40+ goals. Senior Lauren Ottensmeyer is tied for third nationally for most goals scored with 45. Sophomore Camryn Callaghan is tied for seventh with 43. Callaghan is one goal shy of hitting the 100-career goal milestone.

Ottensmeyer recorded her 10th consecutive hat trick against JMU, earning her AAC Honor Roll recognition. Her 45 goals is a season-high, surpassing her previous high of 39 from the 2023 season.

Graduate student goalkeeper Victoria Macres moved up to the eighth spot in the country for save percentage (.516).

On the defensive side, Alexis Rich, Grace Hirschmann, Sophia Finotti and Dani Mlkvy have shown strength and leadership as consistent starters.

Mlkvy has notched 32 draw controls so far this season, giving her 246 in her career. She remains second in program history behind sister Sam, who recorded 280.

Cincinnati is 3-3 at Nippert Stadium with losses to ranked opponents No. 2 Michigan and No. 18 James Madison.

// SERIES HISTORY
The Bearcats and the Pirates will meet for the seventh time since the series began in 2018. The series is tied 3-3. Cincinnati looks to grab its first series win in two years.

In last year's matchup, UC fought to make the score 8-7 late in the third quarter, but East Carolina scored seven-straight goals for an eventual 18-8 win.

The Bearcats were down 5-1 after the opening period. Neither team scored in the second until 4:32 when Camryn Callaghan picked up a deflected pass and rifled it home.

// SCOUTING THE PIRATES
The Pirates welcomed a new coaching staff this season but retained several key players. Three All-Conference performers are back including Frances Kimel, Alexandra Giacolone and Brynn Knight. Knight and Kimel were tabbed AAC Preseason All-Conference with Knight named Preseason Goalkeeper of the year.

East Carolina returns a whole lot of production from a season ago: 68.98 percent (149/216) of all goals, 75.25 percent (219/291) of all points and a whopping 93.33 percent (70/75) of all assists from 2023.

Kimel leads the team with 37 points on 19 assists and 18 goals while Caroline Meininger commands the defense with 19 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers.

// LAST TIME OUT
The Cincinnati lacrosse team fell to sixth-ranked James Madison, 19-8, on Saturday at Nippert Stadium.

The Bearcats held a 6-5 lead with six minutes remaining in the second quarter after senior attacker Lauren Ottensmeyer scored three straight goals and classmate Elizabeth Murphy added one of her own.

The Dukes roared back, however, scoring seven consecutive goals en route to its third straight victory in the series.

Cincinnati dropped to 8-4 overall and 1-1 in the American, while James Madison improved to 8-2 and 2-0 in the league.

Cincinnati freshman goalkeeper Hailey Darko played valiantly in her first career start, notching seven saves and keeping the Bearcats in the match throughout the first half.

Ottensmeyer led the Bearcats with four goals, while sophomore Camryn Callaghan finished with one goal and one assist.
Trailing by 1, James Madison's Maddie Epke and Lauren Savage scored goals to give the Dukes a 7-6 halftime advantage.

Powered by a pair of goals from senior Isabella Peterson, JMU carried the momentum into the third frame, outscoring Cincinnati, 5-0, to take a 12-6 lead into the final period.

Peterson, JMU's career leader in goals, scored her fifth goal of the match to open the fourth quarter.

UC freshman Hailey Joy Simpson added a goal at the 9:38 mark in the final frame to make the score 13-7, but the Dukes answered with six more goals before Ottensmeyer beat the final buzzer with her fourth goal.

The match served as the program's annual Multiple Myeloma Awareness Game.
