Ottenmeyer's first-quarter hat trick gave Cincinnati an early 3-0 lead, but Louisville's Kokoro Nakazawa quickly answered with two goals to close out the first 15 minutes of play.
Victoria Macres registered a career-high 13 saves with a .419 save percentage.
Junior defender Alexis Rich earned the first goal of her career late in the fourth quarter to cut the Cardinals' lead to five goals.
