CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team hits the road to close out the season with matches against BYU and Texas Tech.
The Bearcats begin their two-match road trip by heading to Provo, Utah to face the Cougars on Thursday at BYU's Outdoor Tennis Courts. First serve is set to start at 2 p.m. ET.
Cincinnati then travels to Texas to take on the Red Raiders on Saturday at the Mcleod Tennis Center. The match will begin at 12 p.m. ET.
On Sunday, April 7, against the Jayhawks, sophomore Rozalia Gruszczynska was the first Bearcat to gather double-digit wins this season. Gruszczynska snagged her 10th singles win after defeating Gracie Mulvill on court No. 1, 6-2, 0-6, 6-2. The Poland native holds a 10-9 overall record.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Thursday's match will mark the first-ever matchup between the Bearcats and Cougars.
BYU holds a 14-6 overall record and a 6-5 conference record heading into the match.
The Cougars are coming off two tough matches last week against No. 23 Oklahoma and No. 8 Texas. BYU dropped both matches, 6-1 vs the Sooners and 6-1 against the Longhorns.
SCOUTING THE RED RAIDERS
Cincinnati and Texas Tech haven't matched up against each other before in program history.
The Red Raiders currently sit third in the Big 12 standings with a 15-7 overall record and an 8-3 conference record.
Texas Tech is currently in a two-game losing slump after falling in both its matches last week, 4-0 vs Texas and 4-3 vs Oklahoma.
The Red Raiders doubles pair of Metka Komac and Avelina Sayfetdinova hold the No. 7 spot in ITA's doubles rankings. The duo presents a 24-4 record.
Cristina Tiglea leads the way for the Red Raiders in singles. Tiglea is currently ranked No. 49 in ITA's rankings and holds a 17-8 record.
Texas Tech takes on West Virginia (14-9) on Thursday before taking on the Bearcats on Saturday.
