CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati lacrosse team hits the road to take on the Temple Owls on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Howarth Field.
The Bearcats are coming off a big win against Ohio State, led by senior Lauren Ottensmeyer who registered six goals. Cincinnati has defeated four Ohio teams, Youngstown State, Kent State, Xavier and Ohio State, outscoring them 74-20.
For the first time in program history, Cincinnati boasts two 50 goal scorers in a single season. Sophomore Camryn Callaghan has 52 and Ottensmeyer has recorded 54. Both rank in the top-ten in the nation. Ottensmeyer is in a three-way tie for sixth and Callaghan sits eighth.
Cincinnati also surpasses the program's record for goals per game in one season with 14.28 so far this season. The previously mark was 13.84.
UC's win percentage of .714 also ranks 27th in the country.
In this week's American Athletic Conference weekly awards, freshman Hailey Joy Simpson dubbed her third Freshman of the Week honors after her two goal and four draw control performance against the Buckeyes.
Ottensmeyer was named to the weekly honor roll for the fourth time this year. She has recorded a hat trick in 13 games this season.
