Women’s Tennis Set for Big 12 Championships

The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team is set to compete in the 2024 Big 12 Conference Championships this week at the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team is set to compete in the 2024 Big 12 Conference Championships this week at the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla.
 
No. 13 seed Cincinnati is set to face No. 4 seed Texas Tech at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday. With a win, UC would move on to the quarterfinals on Thursday at 4 p.m. ET and face the winner of No. 12 seed Iowa State and No. 5 seed BYU.
 
The Bearcats enter postseason action 8-14 overall, 1-12 in the Big 12.
 
The doubles partnership of sophomore Rozalia Gruszczynska and freshman Gabrielle Guenther display a 10-7 record, while the freshmen duo of Morgan Pyrz and Sakurako Watanabe boast a 9-6 mark. Gruszczynska leads singles play for the Bearcats, owning a team-best 10-11 record.
 
Wednesday marks the first-ever Big 12 Championship appearance in program history.
 
Texas Tech heads into the postseason 17-7 overall, 10-3 in the Big 12. The doubles pair of senior Metka Komac and junior Avelina Sayfetdinova are currently ranked No. 7 in ITA rankings, sitting with a 25-4 record. No. 46 junior Cristina Tiglea leads the way for the Red Raiders in singles, holding an 18-8 record.
