WACO, Texas — The University of Cincinnati track and field program closed out its split squad weekend on Saturday as Bearcats recorded four UC all-time top 10 marks at the Michael Johnson Invitational.
Highlighting Cincinnati's trip to the Lone Star State was freshman Juliette Laracuente-Huebner's performances in both the long jump and triple jump competitions.
The indoor All-American continued her quest to rewrite UC track and field history as she demolished her previous long jump personal best by leaping 6.25m / 20' 6.25", the third-best mark in program history. She placed sixth overall in the event on Friday.
Laracuenete-Huebner returned to the pit on Saturday as she recorded her second program top-10 mark of the meet, leaping 12.70m / 41' 8" in the women's triple jump competition. She now holds the fifth-best mark in school history and placed fifth overall in the event. She currently ranks inside the top 30 in both the triple jump and long jump in the East Region, which would qualify her for the NCAA East First Rounds.
Another multi's athlete who put on a show over the weekend was senior Justin Abrams, who placed second overall in the men's pole vault with a mark of 5.20m / 17' 0.75". His new personal best vault is now the seventh-best bar clearance in school history.
Graduate student Noah Thomas recorded a personal best weight throw mark for the third consecutive meet. He finished seventh overall in the men's weight throw with a mark of 59.70m / 195' 10", the fourth-best throw in program history.
Due to severe weather on Saturday, the men's shot put and the men's and women's 4x400m relay races were canceled.
While the sprinters and field athletes headed to Texas, the men's and women's distance squads ventured to Winston-Salem, N.C., to compete at the Wake Forest Invitational.
Graduate students Tyler Wirth (1,500m) and Maddie Walker (5,000m) broke program records as Bearcats recorded 10 all-time program top 10 times.
The 14 UC all-time program top 10 marks recorded between the two meets are the most Cincinnati has recorded in a single weekend this outdoor season. More on how the Bearcats did at the Wake Forest Invitational can be found here.
