CINCINNATI — Cincinnati football welcomed on Monday the addition of rising junior punter Max Fletcher, who ranked seventh nationally with a 46.9 punting average at Arkansas in 2023.

Max collected All-SEC Second Team honors from the coaches last fall, adding 23 punts of 50+ and 19 punts inside the 20-yard line for the Razorbacks. He tallied 59 punts and his 2,770 total punting yards led the SEC.

He is the younger brother of Cincinnati rising senior punter Mason Fletcher, who was a Ray Guy Award Finalist and Walter Camp Third Team All-American in 2022. Fletcher, a 2023 honorable mention All-Big 12 honoree, is a three-year starter at punter for UC and his career average of 44.3 ranks behind only two-time All-American and Cincinnati Bengals great Kevin Huber in the Bearcats' record book.

Max is expected to serve as the backup to his older brother while redshirting in 2024 before serving as the Bearcats' starting punter the following two seasons, while he pursues a master's degree.

Max and Mason Fletcher are both from Melbourne, Australia. Each learned American football and punting at Prokick Australia. Their father, Dustin Fletcher, played in 400 games in the Australian Football League for Essendon over a legendary 23-year career.
