CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati lacrosse team will travel to Nashville, Tenn. to face the Vanderbilt Commodores for its final regular season matchup on Saturday. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. ET.
The Bearcats (10-6, 2-3) are looking to clinch the fourth seed for the American Athletic Conference Tournament after falling to No. 9 Florida. A spot in the tournament would be Cincinnati's second consecutive post-season tournament appearance.
For the first time in program history, Cincinnati boasts two 50+ goal scorers in a single season. Sophomore Camryn Callaghan has 55 and senior Lauren Ottensmeyer boasts 56. Both rank top-30 in the nation.
Callaghan is tied for first in the AAC for game winning goals (four), third for goals per game (3.44 avg/g) and third in shots per game (6.44 avg/g).
Ottensmeyer leads the Bearcats in goals with 56, the third most in program history. Her goals also rank her second in the conference and ties her for 16th in the nation.
Cincinnati's defense remains strong with Dani Mlkvy leading the charge, registering 49 draw controls, 28 groundballs and 15 caused turnovers.
Hailey Joy Simpson continues to have a stellar rookie season, notching 19 goals and 27 draw controls. She ranks third on the team in goals, leading all Cincinnati freshman.
