CINCINNATI – After playing its last eight games on the road, the University of Cincinnati baseball team returns home this weekend to host TCU for three games at UC Baseball Stadium.
The series opener is set for Friday at 5 PM and will be followed by a 2 PM contest on Saturday. The Bearcats and the Horned Frogs will wrap up their weekend on Sunday at noon. All three games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Cincinnati will be playing its first home game since March 17 vs. Kansas. Since that game, UC has played road games at Miami, Saint Louis, Louisville, and Baylor.
Most recently, UC is coming off a weekend series in Waco where it dropped two out of three games to the Bears.
TCU and Cincinnati have met 12 times before, with all meetings coming in three-game series from 2002-05 when they overlapped as members of Conference USA. The last series between these two teams was May 6-8, 2005 at UC Baseball Stadium and the Horned Frogs won two out of three games.
Following play this weekend, Cincinnati will face Xavier at Prasco Park in Mason as part of the Joe Nuxhall Classic on Tuesday, April 9. First pitch for that game is set for 6 PM.

Friday's game will be Top Gun Night and our Military Appreciation game as well, and a limited number of UC aviator sunglasses will be handed out to fans. For National Burrito Day on Saturday, UC will be handing out coupons for a free burrito. There will also be a beer tube giveaway on Sunday to the first 200 fans (21 & older) for Beer Day at the ballpark. Concessions specials for the weekend include $5 Cincy Lights all three days, until first pitch on Friday and Saturday and until the fifth inning on Sunday. Fans will also be able to purchase $5 kids meals all weekend, which include a hot dog, candy, and a soda.

The Bearcats resumed Big 12 play this past weekend at Baylor, dropping two out of three games.
UC started off the weekend strong with an 8-3 win in the series opener last Thursday. Tommy O'Connor and Seth Logue helped lead Cincinnati to the win with a pair of stellar performances. O'Connor hit two home runs, his first career multi-homer game, and Logue struck out eight in 6.1 innings out of the bullpen.
Following that game, however, Baylor took games on Friday and Saturday to win the series. An 8-6 decision evened the series on Friday and UC lost, 9-2, on Saturday to drop the series.

TCU brings a 20-8 overall record into play this weekend and is 5-7 against Big 12 competition. The Horned Frogs swept Houston at home this past weekend, but are coming off a midweek loss at UT Arlington on Tuesday. TCU's pitching staff is one of the best in the country at producing strikeouts, ranking eighth in the nation in K/9 (11.5). Payton Tolle, Friday's projected starting pitcher, leads the Big 12 and ranks fifth in the nation with 66 strikeouts. At the plate, Logan Maxwell leads the Horned Frogs in batting average (.374) and on-base percentage (.508), ranking fourth in the conference in the latter.
