CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati lacrosse team defeated Ohio State, 13-11, on Friday at Nippert Stadium.

Cincinnati (10-4, 3-1) kept it close throughout the first quarte with senior Lauren Ottensmeyer scoring first, followed by a picked-up groundball to goal sequence by graduate student Grace Jenny. Ohio State responded with three straight to give the Buckeyes the lead.

Ottensmeyer notched her 50th goal of the season to tie up the game before sophomore Camryn Callaghan regained the lead for the Bearcats.

Cincinnati continued a strong scoring push powered by freshman Hailey Joy Simpson and Ottensmeyer before the Buckeyes found the net with 7:37 to go in the second quarter. UC maintained a 9-7 lead before heading into the break.

Simpson opened up the second half with a quick free-position goal. Ottensmeyer continued the 4-0 run with her sixth goal of the day, matching her career high. The momentum didn't stop when Callaghan found the net to increase Cincinnati's lead to 12-7 with 6:55 left in the third quarter.

Ohio State fought back with four unanswered goals to bring them within one.

A late goal by Callaghan secured the win for the Bearcats. She finished three goals, seven shots and two draw controls. This victory marks the program's first over Ohio State since 2018 and second overall in the series.
