TicketsCINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team (8-12) fell short against Kansas, 6-1, on Sunday at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center.
Sophomore Rozalia Gruszczynska notched her 10th singles win of the season, making her the first Bearcat to reach double-digit wins. Her record stands at 10-9.
The Bearcats honored their seniors Sanjana Reddy and Victorie De Samucewicz after the match. Reddy joined Cincinnati in 2020 and has been a great contributor over her four years. De Samucewicz joined UC this season after transferring from Coastal Carolina. The Paris native has accumulated eight total wins this spring.
Kansas won the doubles point. The point was secured after Jocelyn Massey and Jasmine Adams narrowly took down the freshmen duo of Sakurako Watanabe and Morgan Pyrz, 7-5, on court No. 3.
The Jayhawks grabbed five of the six singles matches.
On court No. 6, Pyrz challenged Silvia Maria Costache, winning the first set 6-3. The second set was a tight-knit contest being decided by a tiebreaker, which Costache won 63-77. The Jayhawk was able to capitalize off her momentum from the second set, taking the third set 6-2.
