CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati baseball team welcomes West Virginia this weekend for a Big 12 series at UC Baseball Stadium.

Due to the threat of inclement weather on Friday, first pitch for the series opener has been moved up to 2 PM. Fans are encouraged to keep an eye on the official Cincinnati Baseball social media channels for any further weather updates this weekend.

Saturday's game will begin at 3 PM and Sunday's finale will start at 1 PM. All three games will be broadcast on ESPN+.

The Bearcats (25-20, 11-10 Big 12) and Mountaineers (27-16, 14-7 Big 12) are both in the top half of the conference standings entering the weekend. WVU is tied with Oklahoma State for second place in the Big 12 and UC is three games behind them.

Cincinnati has won each of its last two Big 12 series, taking two out of three games at home vs. Houston (April 19-21) and at UCF (April 26-28).

This will be the first meeting between Cincinnati and West Virginia since their days in the Big East Conference, when they met annually from 2006-2011. The last three-game series was hosted and won by the Mountaineers in 2011, and WVU leads the all-time series by a slim 18-17 margin.

UC will hit the road next week for four games, a stretch that begins with next Tuesday's midweek game at Indiana. The Bearcats will then head to BYU for their final Big 12 road series of the year.

// WEEKEND PROMOTIONS
Red rally towels will be handed out at Friday's series opener, which will also be Cincinnati's Staff Appreciation Game. UC faculty and staff can contact the ticket office for more information on how to receive discounted tickets to Friday's game.

Saturday, May 4, will be Star Wars Day at the ballpark and fans can pick up a Star Wars-themed Cincinnati Baseball poster while supplies last. As always, following Sunday's game kids can run the bases and get autographs from Bearcat players.

On Friday and Saturday, fans can enjoy $5 Cincy Lights up until first pitch, and $5 kids meals for younger fans as well.

// LAST TIME OUT
Cincinnati visited in-state foe Ohio State on Tuesday night and was dealt a 12-6 loss in Columbus.

The majority of the offense came early in the game, as 15 of the 18 runs were scored in the first three innings. UC plated five of its six runs in the top of the second, a big inning that was fueled by two-run home runs from Alec Jones and Tommy O'Connor that put the Bearcats up 5-4. But the Buckeyes continued to pile it on, scoring six in the third to make it 10-5, and they would not trail for the rest of the game.

// ABOUT WEST VIRGINIA
West Virginia enters this weekend with a 26-17 overall record and a 14-7 mark in Big 12 play. WVU is coming off an 11-1 win over Pitt on Tuesday and swept Baylor this past weekend at home. Wetherholt, who is projected to be selected in the first round of this year's MLB Draft, is hitting .339 and has a .506 on-base percentage in 19 games, having missed time earlier in the season due to injury. Saturday's projected starting pitcher, left-hander Derek Clark, leads the Big 12 with a 2.72 ERA and has three complete games this year, which is tied for second nationally.
