LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Cincinnati track and field program battled weather delays on Wednesday as the Bearcats closed out day one of the NCAA East First Rounds in Lexington.
Seven Bearcats competed on the opening day of the competition as graduate student Naquille Harris led the way for Cincinnati in the men's 100m.
Harris clocked a time of 10.47 seconds and finished 26th overall in the first round of the event. He was two-tenths of a second away from advancing to the quarterfinals.
A decathlete by trade, senior Justin Abrams turned in a performance to remember in the men's pole vault. Abrams cleared a personal best bar height of 4.22m / 17' 1.5", the sixth-best mark in school history, as he placed 30th overall in the event.
Graduate student Noah Thomas capped off his collegiate career by placing 32nd overall in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 60.17m / 197' 5".
Making his East First Round debut sophomore Robert Hart placed 31st overall in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.20m / 23' 7.5".
Graduate student Keco Morrison closed out his UC career on Wednesday. He placed 36th overall in the men's 400m with a time of 47.45.
In the men's shot put Giovanni Gutierrez made his second consecutive appearance in the men's shot put at the regional. He placed 23rd overall in the competition with a mark of 18.13m / 59' 0.75"
Rounding out the day one performances was graduate student Tyler Wirth. He placed 37th in the men's 1,500m with a time of 3:47.39. Wirth will compete in the men's 5,000m on Friday.
