CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati track and field program will head to Waco, Texas, this week to make its inaugural appearance at the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
// 2024 BIG 12 OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS (May 9-11)
The Big 12 Track and Field Championships are hosted by Baylor and will be inside the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium. The meet will be held over a three-day span (May 9-11) beginning on Thursday at 12:30 pm ET with the start of the men's decathlon.

The Big 12 Championships will also be the last chance UC will have to record an NCAA qualifying mark. Currently, 13 Bearcats hold at least one mark that would qualify them for NCAA competition; more on the qualification standards can be found below.

Cincinnati will look to put the finishing touches on its first year in the Big 12 this week after the university joined the conference back on July 1, 2023.
At the Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Bearcats grabbed 11 podium finishes and recorded 13 UC all-time indoor top ten marks over the two-day meet, including eight inside the top five in program history.
Cincinnati is still in search of its first Big 12 individual event champion but currently has at least one athlete ranked inside the top 10 in the conference in 13 events. Athletes ranked with in the top seven of their respective events include Robert Hart (long jump-3rd), Tyler Wirth (1500m-4th), Naqille Harris (100m-4th), Dominique Hall (decathlon-4th), Juliette Laracuente-Huebner (heptathlon-6th), Hannah Jackson (hammer throw-6th), Spirit Morgan (high jump-6th), Annika Kinley/Juliette Laracuente-Huebner/Mallory Mullen (high jump t-7th) and Justin Abramas (decathlon-7th).

With the NCAA East First Rounds approaching quickly, 13 Bearcats, seven women and six men currently hold qualifying marks. Juliette Laracuente-Huebner currently holds four marks (LJ, TJ, HJ, Heptathlon) that would qualify her for the NCAA competition, while Tyler Wirth leads the UC men with two (1,500m / 5,000m). The top 48 declared student-athletes will be accepted into the first-round competitions for each individual event.
The Bearcats also have a pair of multis athletes – Dominique Hall (decathlon) and Juliette Laracuente-Huebner (heptathlon) – with marks that would currently punch their ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Combined events do not attend the first round. For combined events (Heptathlon and Decathlon), the top 24 declared student-athletes in each event based on their position on the national descending-order list will be accepted directly into the Championships.

The NCAA first rounds run Wednesday, May 22 through Saturday, May 25, as the East first round will be located in Lexington, Kentucky, with Kentucky serving as the host school.
