Gingerich became Cincinnati's first Big 12 individual or team champion with his 9-under 279 at Whispering Pines in Trinity, Texas. That performance earned him an automatic bid to the NCAA Purdue Regional, where he had a homecoming competing near his hometown and at the same course in which he was first recruited by the Bearcats.
The Russiaville, Ind., native, who earned his finance degree in May, finished his UC career with a 72.50 stroke average to rank third all-time and carry him into his pro journey.
