EUGENE, Ore. — University of Cincinnati track and field juniors Dominique Hall (decathlon) and Abby Knouff (pole vault) earned All-America honors on Thursday, day two of the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Hall and Knouff became the 40th and 41st UC track and field athletes to earn All-American honors in program history. Cincinnati has now collected 77 All-America honors since 1964, 42 of which have occurred at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Making his NCAA Outdoor Championship debut, Hall became an All-American for the first time in his career as he earned Second-Team All-America honors by scoring 7,464 points, placing 15th in the men's decathlon.
Hall put on a master class performance over the grueling ten-event two-day competition. On Wednesday, Hall tallied 3,921 points through the first five events before scoring 3,543 points on Thursday to reach his record point total and earn his All-America distinction.
The Alabaster, Ala., native began day two of the decathlon by placing 14th in the 110m hurdles after winning his heat with time of 14.98 and added 852 points to his total.
In total, Hall placed inside the top 15 in eight out of the 10 events, including placing fifth in the 1500m (4:32.77), seventh in the 400m (48.15) and 10th in the discus (42.01/ 137' 10").
Following his 110m hurdle performance, Hall placed 10th in the discus throw with a mark of 42.01m / 137' 10", scoring 706 points and then finished 15th in the pole vault clearing bar height of 15' 1.5", scoring 793 points.
Hall then made his way to the javelin, where he recorded a mark of 41.56m / 136' 4", placing 23rd overall and scoring 465 points.
In the final event of the decathlon, Hall clocked a time of 4:32.77 in the 1500m as he finished fifth overall to secure his All-American status.
Knouff became the first Bearcat women's pole vaulter in program history to earn outdoor All-American honors, placing 15th overall in the competition.
Making her NCAA Outdoor Championship debut, Knouff earned Second-Team All-America honors after she tied her outdoor personal best clearing a bar height of 4.30m / 14' 1.25", the second-best mark in outdoor history.
The Tallmadge, Ohio native joined former Bearcat Mackenzie Fields as the only Bearcats to ever earn All-American honors in the women's pole vault as Fields earned indoor All-America honors in 2013.
