CINCINNATI – Josh Kross was named First-Team All-Region on Tuesday, per an announcement from the American Baseball Coaches Association.
Kross is Cincinnati's first ABCA/Rawlings All-Region selection since Griffin Merritt in 2022 and the 14th overall in school history. He is also the eighth first-team honoree since 2007.
Kross, who was also a First-Team All-Big 12 selection, had a terrific first season as a Bearcat. He started all 57 games and hit .317 with 19 home runs, 65 RBI, 50 runs scored and a school-record 26 HBP. Kross' 19 homers are tied for third-most in a season in school history, and his 65 RBI are tied for eighth-most in a season. His three-homer game at Saint Louis on March 22 tied the single-game school record.
The Brunswick, Ohio native led the Big 12 in HBP this season while ranking second in both home runs and RBI. Kross also ranked among the top ten in the conference in slugging (.638) and OPS (1.076). He led UC with 22 multi-hit efforts and 19 multi-RBI performances.
The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-America teams will be announced the morning of Friday, June 14 prior to the start of the 2024 NCAA Div. I College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. First Team All-Region selections are eligible for All-America honors.
The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove winners in all divisions will be announced on Wednesday, June 19. ABCA/Rawlings National Pitchers and Position Players of the Year will be announced on Monday, June 24.
The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
