CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's soccer program opens the 2024 season at home inside Gettler Stadium on Thursday against Murray State.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and admission is free for all fans.

The Bearcats will then travel up to Toledo to take on the Rockets on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Cincinnati begins its second year in the Big 12 tied for 12th in the conference's preseason poll.

// CLIFTON CONFIDENCE
Head coach Erica Demers and her staff adopted a saying at the beginning of the season to help the team adapt to the changes at hand and embody the team's mindset and playing style, which is to play with "Clifton Confidence."

The effect of Clifton Confidence became a reality during the match against then-ranked No. 6 BYU, where the team went and shocked the Cougars and 5,000 fans in attendance, walking away with a 1-1 draw against one of the best scoring teams in the nation, which eventually reached the 2023 College Cup Final Four.

// NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
The Bearcats' 2024 roster features eight freshman and three transfers. Coley Sidloski (Ohio State), Ashlyn Basinger (Maryland) and Jenna Daveler (Old Dominion) all come with previous collegiate experience.

During the spring season, Sidloski was an immediate spark for the Bearcats scoring two goals in two games. She also scored the first goal in Cincinnati's exhibition match against the Northern Kentucky Norse.

// WE PLAY FOR 3
Junior transfer Coley Sidloski will rep the number 3 this year in honor of her sister and former UC student athlete, Ally Sidloski, who passed away in 2021. This will be the first time since 2022 that #3 is worn, last done so by Vanessa DiNardo, also in honor of Ally. DiNardo proceeded to score the team's first goal of the 2022 season in the win at NKU.

// SCOUTING THE RACERS
Murray State boasts 17 returners, six freshman and two transfers to their 2024 roster. Led by the four team captains, graduate Hailey Cole, senior Morgan Bodker and juniors Tori Schrimpf and Mary Hardy.

The Racers completed an exhibition match last week against the Chattanooga Mocs, where the Racers out-shot the Mocs 9-7 with both teams matching three corners apiece.

Murray State finished fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference with a final record of 3-2-5.

// SCOUTING THE ROCKETS
Toledo returns 15 members from their 2023 roster with three notable transfers that bring experience to the program. Head women's soccer coach Mark Batman announced the addition of transfer students Tori Lyncha, Dalaney Ranallo, and Agnes Stenlund to the 2024 roster.

The Rockets finished fourth in the MAC after a loss against Western Michigan knocked them out of the conference tournament last season.

Head coach Mark Batman enters his second season leading the charge. Batman previously served as the head women's soccer coach at Ohio Northern University, a position he held since 2004. He is winningest coach in ONU history, compiling a record of 253-91-40 in 19 seasons, with a 136-24-11 mark in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play.
