CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's soccer program won its season opener after defeating Murray State, 2-1, on Thursday night in Gettler Stadium.

The Bearcats outshot the Racers 21-10 and tallied 10 corner kicks.

Junior Coley Sidloski felt the groove early on, notching the first goal for the Bearcats in the seventh minute of playing time.

Sidloski found the net first for Cincinnati during the 2024 spring season as well as during the exhibition game against Northern Kentucky.

Cincinnati entered the break with a 2-0 advantage thanks to freshman Rylee Felton scoring her first collegiate goal in the 37th minute.

Fifth year goalkeeper Anna Rexford remained in the cage the full 90 minutes and recorded one save.

Murray State responded in the second half with a goal from sophomore Morgan Bodker via penalty kick due to a Cincinnati handball.

Both teams fought through the rain for the remaining six minutes, but Cincinnati ultimately prevailed securing a win in front of the home crowd. This marks the first season and home-opening win for the Bearcats since 2022.

The Bearcats hit the road to take on the Toledo Rockets on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Paul Hotmer Field.
