BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The University of Cincinnati volleyball program swept Chicago State for its first win of the 2024 season on Saturday.
Head coach Molly Alvey earned her 250th career win with the three-set victory. The Bearcats will now round out the Best Western Invitational against host Bowling Green at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Senior Abby Walker had a career day at the net, registering a career-high nine blocks to go along with eight kills at a .462 hitting percentage.
Junior Carly Glendinning posted a team-high 12 kills at a .400 clip. She added three blocks, three digs and an ace in the performance. Redshirt sophomore Ligia Williams did not commit an attacking error. She finished with six kills on nine attempts (.667 pct).
The Bearcats' serving and block proved to be the difference in the match. Cincinnati recorded nine aces and 13 blocks to limit the Cougars' attack. Chicago State hit just. 046 with 22 attacking errors, and only had one ace in the match.
