CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team swept Kent State in its home opener on Saturday inside Fifth Third Arena.

The Bearcats (6-2) earned their fifth sweep of the 2024 season – their most in non-conference since 2019. Cincinnati will remain at home with a midweek matchup versus Akron on Tuesday night. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
Cincinnati hit a season-best .416 in the win. Setter Katelyn Lefler dished out 37 assists to go along with seven digs and two blocks. Attackers Sydney Nolan (12), Carly Glendinning (11) and Fallon Stewart (10) combined for 33 of the Bearcats' 49 kills in the win.

Middle blockers Abby Walker and Zeta Washington did not commit an attacking error, combining for 13 kills on 20 attempts (.650). The Bearcats were plus-10 in digs (48-38) and held Kent State to a hitting percentage of just .194.
 
The first set saw 10 ties and two lead changes. It wasn't until Cincinnati used a 4-0 run to pull away with the set, 25-22. Glendinning paced the offense with seven of her 11 kills in the first frame.
 
Cincinnati used a pair of 4-0 scoring runs to win the second set, 25-19. The Bearcats totaled four of their six blocks in the stanza. 
 
Behind an 8-0 run, the Bearcats cruised to the third-set win, 25-14. Cincinnati hit a set-best .560 with 14 kills and no attacking errors on 25 attempts. Washington, who was sidelined with an injury to start the season, saw her first significant action of 2024. She posted six kills on eight swings in the final set (.750).
